"I created Healthy Lifestyles because of my own issues with weight. I had been heavy nearly my whole life, since the second grade. By the time I turned 30, I weighed over 200 pounds. I didn't know that my life could be different until I watched a co-worker lose a significant amount of weight. It was her example that showed me it was possible. I was inspired.
In 2000, I joined a program that helped me re-shape my lifestyle and I lost 80 pounds in the process. The difference in my life has been remarkable; I now have the confidence to pursue my passions. I studied to become a Certified LifeStyle Counselor® and then shortly afterward started my own practice, Healthy Lifestyles.
It has been a thrill for me to witness clients transforming their lives; losing weight sensibly and permanently and then inspiring others to do the same. Come and be inspired. Imagine your success!"
Kathryn received a Bachelor's degree in history from UVM in 1992. She was employed by The Baird Center for Children and Families from 1991 to 2001 where she worked with children and their families in a residential treatment setting; first as a treatment home counselor, then case manager and finally as an administrator. After leaving Baird, she managed two area fitness clubs before starting Healthy Lifestyles in 2004. She lives in Shelburne with her husband and two children.
"I am excited to be a new addition to Healthy Lifestyles. My story is a familiar one. My challenge with my weight began as a child, filling emotional voids with food. When I finally realized that there was no magic pill or quick fix I was 2 pounds shy of 300 lbs. The approach that Kathryn and Healthy Lifestyles encourage is one that can be incorporated into everyday normal living. When I first started losing what has become over 100 lbs I couldn't look at the big picture. I had to plod along one pound at a time, sometimes one minute at a time.
With a background that includes a degree in Social Work I am looking forward to sharing my hope, enthusiasm and personal experience with those of you who are ready to make the changes necessary so that you, too, can know what weight control success feels like."
