If you are suspicious of the title of this article...good! I think you should be. It sounds like it comes straight from the cover of one of those magazines with the impossibly thin model on the cover, doesn't it? Being an informed and careful consumer, especially when it comes to weight loss products and programs, is essential. There are so many empty promises out there. Read on, though, and you'll find out that sometimes things that sound too good to be true, are true.

Partner in Health - Cayce Ludwar
    Cayce Ludwar

Cayce Ludwar is a native Vermonter, having attended Williston Central School, Champlain Valley Union High School, and The University of Vermont.

Cayce discovered Jazzercise in December 1996, during her freshman year at UVM. Due to a back injury, Cayce was unable to continue her collegiate soccer career and needed to find another fitness program that provided a comprehensive workout that included cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, and stretching.

In 2000, Cayce graduated from UVM with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and minor in Nutrition and Food Sciences. After working in the corporate world, Cayce obtained her Elementary Education license from the Vermont Department of Education in 2003.

As a graduation gift to herself, Cayce completed Jazzercise’s workshop certification program and has been a certified franchisee and instructor for over six years. She acquired the Williston Jazzercise Fitness Center in March 2005.

About Jazzercise For more than 35 years, Jazzercise, created by Judi Sheppard Missett, is the world’s leading dance- fitness program. With more than 6,000 instructors teaching 20,000 classes weekly worldwide, the comprehensive program designed to enhance cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility has helped millions of people of all ages and fitness levels reap the benefits of exercise and improve their well-being.

Jazzercise blends aerobics, yoga, Pilates, and kickboxing movements into fun dance routines set to fresh new music— including Grammy hits, rock, country, R&B, pop, Latin, adult contemporary, independent, and jazz.

Product Spotlight - The Fitness Challenge (Game)
    Fitness Challenge

The Fitness Challenge is the award-winning game that helps you lose weight and get fit by creating a friendly competition between two people. The Fitness Challenge is like having a personal trainer in a box - everything you need to start and stick with your exercise program comes in one complete game. It's as easy as "pick a partner, place a wager, play 8 weeks".

This game motivates families and friends to get in shape. We have had several families use the friendly competition to encourage better physical activity habits. When a healthier family is the result, everybody wins!

Book Club - The Rules of "Normal" Eating
    The Rules of Normal Eating

Written in easy-to-understand, everyday language, The Rules of "Normal" Eating lays out the four basic rules that "normal" eaters follow instinctively - eating when they're hungry, choosing foods that satisfy them, eating with awareness and enjoyment, and stopping when they're full or satisfied. Along with specific skills and techniques that help promote change, the book presents a proven cognitive- behavioral model of transformation that targets beliefs, feelings, and behaviors about food and eating and points the way toward genuine physical and emotional fulfillment. Readers learn how to reprogram their dysfunctional beliefs, manage uncomfortable feelings without turning to food, and establish new eating habits that tune their bodies into natural sensations of hunger, pleasure, satisfaction, and satiation. Filled with humorous insights, compassion, and practical wisdom, the book outlines balanced attitudes and patterns that benefit all types of eaters.

    Question and Answer

Q: How do I lose weight from a specific place on my body?

A:There is no way to target weight loss to a specific area of the body because your body decides where it wants to put on weight and where it wants to take it off. The midsection is a common "problem" area for many people.

The best way to lose fat is through cardiovascular exercise. It is important to do a variety of exercises to strengthen these areas, but until that excess fat is gone, you will not see the muscle definition. For example, if you’re not doing cardio, crunches are not going to help get the 6-pack you’ve been hoping for. Regular cardio exercise at a level that’s challenging for you is your best bet.

    Weight-Management Tip

Find many different ways to measure your progress

Pretend for a minute that gravity doesn’t exist. Everything is weightless, including your aunt Sophie, yet it all manages to stay on the ground. You don’t know how much you weigh because scales have never been invented. How would you define your state of health? After all, you wouldn’t be able to say "I need to lose 10 pounds" or "I weigh 150 pounds, so I must be overweight."...
